I passed on a half day trip today due to having to make an early decision as the arrival of the predicted front. It is overcast and blowing a little, but nothing serious so far. We have a 7-8 year old ball game at 1 p.m. and I will head to Humble as soon as it is over.
The Northeast Houston CCA will be hosting their annual crawfish boil and banquet at the Humble Civic Center and I look forward to visiting with Ron, Rusty, Larry, Brett, Kyle, and all of the guys that work so hard in that chapter. I won't have a booth this year, but I do plan on doing lots of visiting and talking fishing. If you live in the area and like to eat crawfish come join us. Gates open at 6 pm.
HEY THIS IS DARRIK AGAIN, ME AND MURRY FISHED SABINE LAKE SATURDAY. WE STARTED OUT FISHING KIETH LAKE EARLY THAT MORNING. WE CAUGHT TWO SMALL SPECKS THE FIRST HOUR AND DECIDED TO TAKE OUR CHANCES ON THE LOUISIANA SIDE, HOWEVER BEFORE ARRIVE I SAW 15 BOATS DRIFTING THE SOUTH REEF AND DECIDE THAT WAS OUR NEXT STOP. AFTER ARRIVING OUR FIRST DRIFT PRODUCED 8 KEEPER WITH A TROUT OVER 5 POUNDS. BY 12:30 THE WIND HAD PICKED UP AND WITHOUT A WINDSOCK IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO FISH. WE HEADED BACK TO KIETH LAKE TO FIND TURNS WORKING OVER SHRIMP IN SALT LAKE, ONLY TO PRODUCE SMALL TROUT AND RAT REDS. BY THIS TIME IT WAS TIME FOR LUNCH, AND SABINE PASS PRODUCED THREE GREAT BACON CHEESEBURGERS AND BANNANA CAKE. BACK TO THE WATER ON THE SOUTH REEF WITH THE WIND NOW BLOWING FORM THE NORTH. AFTER FIVE DRIFTS WE CAUGHT 9 MORE SPECKS 2-3POUNDS. FINALLY, WE MADE OUR WAY BACK TO KEITH LAKE TO FINISH OUR DAY FISHING THE MOUTH. IT PRODUCED 4 MORE KEEPS AND WATCH A LADY CATCH A 7 POUND TROUT ON THE POINT BEFORE CALLING IT A DAY.
