It is not all that unusual this time of the year to postpone parties for fear of bad weather only to scout and and do well anyway. Such has not been the case the latter part of this week. If you were one of the four groups that agreed to reschedule... be happy! After getting completely shut down Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I made a run today to assess the damage of all the runoff. Things had indeed changed since Tuesday.
The flags on the courthouse tell the story each morning. When they are starched in any direction it is not good!
Had I waited until this afternoon it would have been drier and a little warmer, but the grandkids were not going to miss the Mardi Gras parade. The parade was much better than the fishing. There were a few areas that were not too muddy, but for the most part, the north end was ugly. I was surprised to see several boats on the water and hopefully some of them caught fish.
The bayous are just a little off-color right now.
We still have a lot of muddy water in both Adams and Cow Bayou to get rid of and it is supposed to start raining again Tuesday. The water temperature was still in the mid-fifties which was a little warmer than I expected. If it does continue to rain, we are going to spend a lot of time on Calcasieu hustling big trout over the next few weeks until Sabine Lake gets a little more user-friendly.
