We backed another trip up this morning and I rescheduled one for tomorrow as well due to the unstable weather. I will scout tomorrow, but we decided it would be too iffy for clients to gamble their fishing money on. I fished yesterday with Albert Bates and Damon Mayfield and we had to run a few marsh ponds to find fish.
Damon steers a nice red around the troll motor.
We were in by noon, but were still able to find some very solid reds up to 29 inches. I enjoyed sitting in the back of the boat, watching those two guys fish, and taking pictures. They are both good fishermen that fish together very well.
We got bit on a Baby 1-minus, a spinner bait and topwaters. It was windy and overcast all morning and the fish were scattered all over the marsh as opposed to bunching up in the thicker grass. We seemed to do better in the ponds where the water was a little more off-colored.
This 24-inch fish was the only red they kept for dinner!
We ran some water on the north end, but spent very little time in the open lake as it was pretty rough. If we can get any kind of a break at all with this wind the fishing should get better in a hurry as the water clarity is not that bad.

HEY DICKIE, THIS IS DARRIK. I WAS OUT FISHING LAST NIGHT AT A PIER ON THE SOUTH END OF THE LAKE (WED). THE INCOMING TIDE BROUGHT IN SOME GOOD SPECKS AGAIN. USUALLY WHEN WE CATCH SPECKS ON THE PIERS THEN THE REEF BIT PICKS UP. SATURDAY LOOKS LIKE A GOOD DAY TO BE FISHING WITH THE 4 TIDE CHANGES AND THE LOWER PRESSURE. I WAS PLANNING TO START OUT THAT MORNING FISHING TOP WATER IN THE POCKET ON THE SOUTH END, THEN DRIFT THE REEF BUT WHAT DO YOU THANK ABOUT FISHING LIGHTHOUSE AND THE JETTY WALL. I HAVE BEEN HEARING HERESAY ABOUT THE TWO WHAT DO YOU THINK.

Hey I love reading your web page. It is very informative.I went down to the reef on Thursday it was windy & caught a couple of red fish under sized just below the causway on the LA side. We went out on the North end of the Lake Sat. Very windy went up in Blacks Bayou. No fish there on Sat. I am thretening to go out this after noon not sure yet watching the weather. What marsh did you go in Betsy height? Or was there some where else you guys went to?
